Hi everyone, got this DVD last week and just wanted to share a few thoughts on it!

This is the DVD where Jay looked through other magicians contributions and picked 3 guys and made a dvd of their stuff and a few bits by him!

I am just going to do a brief review here, mainly because my computer just broke and it may crash any second now so i wanna get this done before it dies! Its ok as long i don't move the computer at all otherwise it gets a loose connection and shuts down! So gently does it!!  Shocked

Do i like this DVD? Yes i really like it. It has a session vibe to it. It just feels like its you and guys showing each other stuff and geeking out on magic, which is cool.

Are there some good effects? Yes, there is a lot of workable material in here!

Are there some bad effects? Yes and no. No real clunkers but there will definitely be a few in there that you won't really like or are just standard effects dressed up a tiny bit.

What did i like on this DVD?

Well, i love Jacked Up. It has gone straight into my performing repertoire! It goes like this: You bring out a red deck, shuffle it, give the spec 2 cards unseen. They place these 2 cards into the deck. By coincidence they happen to both be next to a Jack! You go one step further by showing that 2 unseen cards are the other 2 Jacks! Then with a final kicker you show that now the rest of the deck has turned from red to blue!

Its a fairly standard plot, but the handling is super easy, there are lots of subtle convincers and basically the whole routine is worked out  perfectly. I have just returned home from working in Canada and my dad asked me to come around for dinner and wanted to see some magic. I showed him this and he was gobsmacked, saying its better than anything he has seen any card magician do, and he's seen a few! So high praise indeed!

Uniquely - This is a Sankey creation, its simple but very clever! Basically you talk about things being unique and bring out a coin. Howver this coin isn't unique so it needs a signature on it. The coin is placed in an envelope and placed on the table. A card is picked but this is not unique, so we tear a corner off. Then you rub your hands together and the torn corner turns into the signed coin and the torn corner is in the envelope! Brilliant stuff!

Final Cap in Bottle - I don't really know many cap in bottle routines but this is simple and effective and i like it!

Razorburn - Cool idea, not really a worker but i wanna try this out to see if it works!

T-Bone - Cool T&R but along the lines of card warp.

There are a few other good bits on here, there is some funny stuff and its quite good to listen to the guys chatting about the nuances of an effect. This is often missing in many dvds, talking about when to do a move, how to create the off-beat etc.

Out the 20 or so routines on here one was worth the price of admission (Jacked Up) and there are at least half a dozen good effects on here for me.

It gets 4 smiley's from me  Grin Grin Grin Grin

as always

but is that 4 smileys out of five? or ten? is there an internationally agreed standard? in europe it's probably out of ten, being metric / decimal and all, but in the US it might be out of something else

maybe this will become internationally accepted - a score out of 5 smileys is the "big dan scale".

(this is as opposed to a score out of 10 smileys, which is the metric system, or out of 14 then divide the answer by 16, which is the imperial scale)

Thanks for the very unsarcastic welcome to the forum Smiley

Forgive my ignorance but the meaning of your Jay "Leech" pun eludes me.

No worries Jeff, i really enjoyed the project. To be honest i wasn't sure what to expect, but its really good, a different idea, very fun to watch and a lot of good magic to get your teeth into.

all the best
