David Forrest's FANDANGO
Close up magic for the real world. Part 1.
Reviewed by Gareth Witty 2007

Ad Copy:

Part 1 in a series of releases containing all new material designed with the intent of providing real world close up magicians with fresh, practical material.

Six brand new, never before published effects fresh from the mind of Dave Forrest. The material contained within has been carefully selected to be both entertaining and practical. This is not a 'read it once' release. It is filled with effects that you will actually use in the real world for real people. Fandango Part 1 - ALL KILLER, NO FILLER!

CONTENTS:

Missing the Aces - An attempt to cut directly to a selected card goes awry but the error is quickly forgotten when all four Aces suddenly appear and the selection is found reversed in the deck!

Card Sharp - An impossible revelation of a signed, folded card. Prepare yourself for a ‘why didn’t I think of that’ moment.

Seal the Deal - How to cheat at cards. First remove an Ace from the deck ahead of time and sleeve it, but don't forget to GENUINELY re-seal the entire deck in its cellophane.

Brunch at Tiffanies - A borrowed ring sealed in the card case transposes with a borrowed coin. Then, it happens again!

Monterrey Jacks - The Jacks trap two selections, one in the deck, the other in the spectator's hands. This trick is so easy and effective it should be illegal!

Royale with Threes - An impossible sandwich effect with an eye popping 'four of a kind production' kicker

The Review

On this PDF you have 6 effects that play really strong. David has put a lot of effort into this effects and it shows real promise and live up to the claim of All Killer, no filler!

Missing the Aces is a great handling of a four ace effect and has a great kicker ending. David has explained the moves in great detail. It is a little tricky, but well worth learning.

Card Sharp is a great rework of Jay Sankeys Paperclipped and one that uses your pen in a new way. David covers the moves needed in good, clean detail. If you know the effect then this is then you know how powerful this effect plays.

Seal the Deal has opener written all over it and yes it is a sealed deck folks! And yes, the gimmick is easy to make and use.

Brunch at Tiffanies is a escape from the cards and allows the use of 2 borrowed objects for a great transpose routine and as we all know, magic works best with borrowed objects.

Monterrey Jacks is a great little sandwich effect and is very visual and well thought out. All I can say is “nice one David”

Royale with Threes is another sandwich effect with a nice full on production at the end. I think this has closer for any card workers end routine.

My thoughts...

Each effect is well written, and plays strong. My favourite effects from this PDF are Card Sharp and Seal the Deal which I can see myself doing. The writing style is very relaxed and it makes a great reading on those cold winter nights. As this is a PDF you can printout the effects you want to learn but I would say print it all out!

David has also used photographs to help with key elements throughout the effects which does help, I would have liked to have seen more of these, but for most magicians you can always look up the moves for more details.

There is a good mixture of easy and hard effects on this PDF and I am sure one or two of these will be used in your routine.

This pdf is well worth the money, for under £10 you are getting 6 effects that WILL WORK very well. So David, a big thumbs up for a great product.

Also check out the demo video at David's site and see Royale with Threes in action!
