The Cloak DVD

It’s an amazing feeling when you see a new effect that is totally different then anything out there. It’s a more incredible feeling when you see someone improve a effect and take it to a level that makes it near freakish.
The Cloak by Justin Miller is just that.
I was able to see Justin Demo the Cloak and was highly impressed. Taking IT to the next level (and really how long has this been around) Justin has worked extensively on creating a elastic IT and hook up for table’s and strolling that limits breakage and eliminates a lot of the problems that kept most of us, ok well I know it kept me, away from using IT.
Pro’s- Hookup is 30 seconds and no hassle.
Elastic is superior to anything I have handled before.
Detailed effects. None of that “limited by only your imagination” stuff.
High impact commercial approach to a very scary gimmick.

Con’s- Its still IT
Practice is involved and will need to be worked on to really take it from the level of “hey that’s kinda cool” to “I’m really FREAKED OUT”.
   Its not out yet. LOL

Final opinion- I stayed away from IT simply because of the fear of breakage and exposure. Justin has tried very very hard to eliminate all those problems we had with IT before and dang it if he hasn’t come super close.

Gareth,
I didnt think it would suit me either when he showed the table version of the effect.
But then he instantly unhooked the gimmick and set it up for strolling situation.
Great haunted deck and rising card effects.
Hey its still IT and a bit scarry for me to use but it makes it a lot easier to use and trust.

True, but I think it best suited to a working pro, not a fun loving, Sankey crazed, leech loving Hobbyist like me.

Did you see the new thread he used. Apparently you can buy a large (super super large!) spool of ie for 8- dollars. It is called infinity thread

( see here how large the spool is http://flixn.com/play/kolpoo/ )

Justin reviews it here:
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=212085&forum=113&start=0

I am wondering how it compared to other threads in visibility, strength, elasticity and durabiliy

I was able to take a look at the new thread.
It does come in a SUPER spool that will be all you ever need. the entire lecture hall, with lights on and knowing where the thread was still could not see it. So visibility was great.
Strength was decent. Better then most IT's I've played around with but in performace in did snap once but I feel this was more a mistake with audience managment then anything.
The stretch was good. Near a foot of stretch before breaking point.

Cheers,
Adam
