Hey Guys!

So i know we all like to bash the companies that over hype their products, but i have noticed a lot of products that have been on hype of the week haven't actually been reviewed either on the show or in the forums!

So, i decided to post an actual review of Stigmata, in case you were living in a cave for the lat year and missed out on hearing about this effect!

Stigmata Review

Price - $25 (DVD)

First Thoughts

The DVD box and the menus are all very nice and the picture quality is superb. If you like your DVDs urban and gritty this one won't disappoint (please note dvd does not actually contain grit, as this might scratch the disc!)

The Effect
You have a spectator pick a card. The performer turns around and lets the spec return the card and shuffle the cards. The chosen card is completely lost. The preformer asks the lovely spectator to grab a hold of his wrist and think of their card. When the spectator lets go they can see the marks left from their hand. These slowly fade away and are replaced with a number. For example, if they chose a 7 Diamonds, when they let go the marks fade away and then number 7 slowly appears on the performer's wrist.

The Method
The method is simple and really works. Its impromptu and does not need any gimmicks.

The Teaching

Wayne Houchin teaches this effect really well. He goes through everything you need to perform this effect. He doesn't expect you to know anything and takes you through each stage. Now for some, these explanations aren't needed but its good that Wayne put them in there anyway.

3 versions of the effect are taught. One with a card, one with a thought of number, and one with spectator writing down a name on a billet. The card and the billet are both very strong and powerful, the any number is kind of a hit or miss, so its not really that great, but it could work!

With the thought of name, Wayne teaches you exactly how to do it, which is great. Its actually a great method and its nice that he doesn't just say "And you can use your favourite method to...." here.

Final Thoughts

I really like Stigmata. Its a great effect, Wayne teaches it well, and even if you are a novice everything you need to be able to do is taught in here.

Banachek does include Stigamata on his PSI Series and if you already have it then i would suggest you don't need to buy Stigmata. Banachek goes over the effect quite briefly. Wayne goes through everything and even gives some presentational advice and tips that would definitely be good for a novice or beginner magician. An intermediate or better magish could get PSI series vol 2 and be fine. I actually have both!

Is it worth it? Yes
Does it get good reactions? Hell yes!
Is it easy to perform? Yes
Will the spectators over hype the effect afterwards saying "that the marks cleary and visaully re-arranged themselves to form the chosen card's number?" Quite possibly!!

My rating? 9/10

Hope you found my review helpful. Please feel free to ask any questions or just heckle me!!
